February 1st, 2010 - A "Nuit blanche" in a "transformed" Place des Arts!

This year, Place des Arts has once again concocted a programme
for the Montreal Nuit blanche that is sure to warm up the thousands
of night owls who will come through its doors on February 27.
“Just as those who take part in the Nuit blanche
brave the cold and keep themselves awake as they make their way all
over town, so will we throw open our doors to those looking for
something new—despite the renovations taking place in our
hall. That said, the countdown has begun, and the next Nuit
blanche, in 2011, will take place in our all-new space, Place des
Arts’ Grand Foyer culturel,” stated Programming
Director Michel Gagnon.
As for this year’s Nuit blanche, programming includes
the return of some sure bets (Fantasia, Improvisez la nuit
at DUCEPPE), and some new activities like the Opéra de
Montréal’s Karaoke Opera and the enigmatic

The Dancing Body’s ABC
X… the unknown variable
Resolutely post-modern,The Dancing Body’s
ABCis a double exploration of the dancing body, based on the
26 letters of the alphabet. Simultaneously theoretical reflection
and dance performance, our ABC dwells on the enigmatic and
no less strange letter X as the unknown variable
of the dancing body. A device through which bodies, sounds and
images bear witness to the inevitable relinquishing of
certainties.

Inventing the night
Still more improv at DUCEPPE!Following their successes of
the last four years, Stéphane Bellavance and his accomplices
make an even bigger impact at this new edition of the Nuit
Blanche, with three improv shows: at midnight, 2 and 4 a.m.

Fantasia International Film Festival
A selection of the best short films shown at Fantasia
2009. DJ XL5’S Razzle Dazzle Zappin’ Party
offers playful shorts, animated films and other entertaining
micro-shorts. The Best of Fantasia 2009 presents a
selection chosen by Mitch Davis, while Vive le court libre
2009 presents Quebec’s best cult short films.

SACEF!
Manuel Brault and François Guy invite you to a
celebration of Quebec’s most memorable songs of yesterday,
today and tomorrow, at the Studio théâtre of the Place
des Arts! Join them to sing songs that are a part of our
lives.

In addition, this year, Place des Arts will be part of the Art
Souterrain event, with the presentation of four playful and
inventive installations.
Place des Arts is pleased to actively take part in the
Montreal Nuit blanche, which brings the major MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS
Festival to a close.
