Montreal
, November 23, 2009 – For its second
Christmas in Montreal, PDA Junior and its official
spokesman Marc Déry are inviting all young children aged 3
to 12 to a series of productions filled with laughter, fantasy,
tradition and magic. An enchanting program designed for children
and pre-teens presented by Place des Arts and its principal
partners, PDA Junior will be held during the holiday
season from December 6 to 30, 2009.
Holy
Cow!
Holy Cow! by Théâtre de
l’Oeil takes children aged 5 to 12 on a wild investigation
led by the famous detectives Tom and Bob, who are on the trail of a
teddy-bear thief. A musical featuring puppets and actors in a
whirlwind of adventures, Holy Cow! / Ah la vache
! will alternate in English and French on December 27, 29 and
30 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Cinquième salle of Place des
Arts.
Discover the treasures of
Arthur
The musical Arthur l’aventurier
– la course au trésor stars the famous Arthur, a
character created in 1996 by author-singer-songwriter
François Tremblay. Arthur’s folk, country, reggae,
funk and even symphonic music helps children aged 3 to 10 discover
the wonders of the Saint Lawrence, including Anticosti Island, the
fossils at Miguasha, seabirds, marine and land animals. Arthur
shows us the beauties—and fragility—of nature at the
Théâtre Maisonneuve on Sunday, December 6 at 3
p.m.
Le Petit Noël
de Québec Issime
Intended for children aged 2 to 6, Le Petit
Noël de Québec Issime allows the very young to
discover some of our classic Christmas songs. Using the splendid
set of Décembre, and some of the singers and
musicians who have made this production a success year after year,
two magical matinées will be presented on Sunday, December
13 and 20 at 11 a.m. at Théâtre
Maisonneuve.
Zany and extraordinary: Les
zidées métronomes
Sylvie the singer and Guillaume the pianist,
two musicians who know each other well, set themselves challenges
involving their voices, bodies and instruments. With breakneck
speed, their show combines operatic voices, gurglings of the
stomach, wild rhythms and virtuoso piano. From December 27 to
30, this show for children aged 5 and up will be presented at the
Studio Théâtre at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
What would Christmas be without
… The Nutcracker?
Is there a more beloved holiday tradition than
this famous ballet choreographed by Fernand Nault for Les Grands
Ballets Canadiens de Montréal? Little Clara and her dolls
return to the large stage of the salle Wilfrid-Pelletier. Based on
the story by E.T.A. Hoffman, “The Nutcracker and the Mouse
King,” this fantasy set to music by Tchaikovsky in 1892 is
among the most popular shows of the holiday season—among
young and old alike. Magic and wonders guaranteed!
