April 27, 2010 - Place des Arts announces a new classical music series

Montreal, Tuesday, April 27, 2010
– a new music series over the course of the 2010-2011 season. Consisting of six concerts, the series will give music lovers the opportunity to hear—and see—such highly renowned artists and ensembles as violinist Joshua Bell, mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, soprano Renée Fleming, violinist Gidon Kremer, and Kremerata Baltica, as well as the NHK Symphony Orchestra from Tokyo, conducted by André Previn.

This series of concerts, programmed by Paul Fortin, who is in charge of music programming at PdA, will be presented in various halls in the complex. Paul Fortin states: “Place des Arts is pleased to offer music lovers a chance to hear artists - often in recital for the first time in Montreal - and ensembles of a very high level. It also hopes to establish a collaborative network of various music promoters and presenters, so as to enhance the excellence and diversity of our concert schedule".

This new classical series is in keeping with all of the other artistic activities and projects that will bring to life the Quartier des spectacles. In addition to enriching our musical landscape in a unique way, these concerts strengthen Montreal’s role as a cultural metropolis, both nationally and internationally.
