GILLES TREMBLAY, L'Origine, for mezzo-soprano and orchestra (world premiere, Radio France commission)

The world premiere by Gilles Tremblay is also presented as part of the SMCQ’s Tribute to Gilles Tremblay series.
Pre-concert talk, 7 p.m.: Espace musique’s Mario Paquet interviews OSM Music Director Kent Nagano and composer Gilles Tremblay. Till Fellner, a protégé of Alfred Brendel, is recording all five Beethoven piano concertos with the OSM and Kent Nagano. Now he returns to Montreal to perform the First of this series, music of exquisite craftsmanship and youthful good humor. Brahms’s spirited Second Symphony is also on the program, a work brimming with visions of the great outdoors such as inspired Beethoven in his Pastoral
Symphony.
