Vertical Road From January 25 to 28, 2012 Théâtre Maisonneuve, Place des Arts A Danse Danse presentation
“Vertical Road is a fantastic feast for the senses – design, lighting, music and dancers of all shapes and ethnicities combine in a rich glow of art, a cut above the humdrum of live and ‘normal’ dance.” (ballet.co.uk)
The internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Akram Khan will no doubt charm with a groupe pièce in which eight dancers will take to the stage to perform the “exquisite and thrilling” (The Observer, London) Vertical Road, inspired by the work of Rumi, the great Persian poet and iconic figure of Sufism, and features music by Nitin Sawhney. In this work, Akram Khan makes admirable use of his favourite tools – formal contemporary dance and kathak, one of the various forms of Indian classical dance. Deliciously exotic.
